About the Role

The CNBD Lab is actively recruiting motivated PhD students to join us in Fall 2026 through the BME PhD program. Students with backgrounds in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, psychology, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have strong interest in neuroimaging, computation, and brain disorders research.

Prerequisites and Requirements

Before applying, review the prerequisite information and complete the admission requirements provided by FIU BME. The admissions committee will review all completed applications to select candidates for interviews.

Eligibility

Candidates for the PhD Program in the CNBD Lab must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, cognitive neuroscience, electrical engineering, psychology, computer science, or a related field.
  • A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Graduate GPAs may also be considered if academic improvement is evident.

Suggested Coursework:

Applicants are encouraged to have completed coursework with proficiency (B average or above) in mathematics and science. Advanced courses in Signal processing, Computer science, Biology, chemistry, and physiology, are highly recommended.

  • Completion of a Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish (if planning to conduct clinical research projects)
